Cheesy Italian Crostini: 10-minute NYE Appetizer

Happy day-after Christmas! I hope you all had a great holiday!

We had a great Christmas this year. Lots family, lots of friends, and way too much food!

Me and my (gorgeous!) younger cousins opening gifts last night!

As usual – I went a little nuts-o on the Christmas baking. 8 kinds of cookies… a caramel chocolate ganache tart, and a chocolate cream pie. NBG. Its turned into more of a sport than anything. Its not really about sharing love…carefully manicured sugar cookies.. or seeing my brothers smile over their favorite brownie. Let’s get this straight – Its about seeing how many different types of cookies I can jam into a 24 hour period. I wore my running shoes with my apron.

Sorry! I know the pics are a little crummy, all courtesy of my iPhone :)

But as Christmas winds down we have 1 more blow-out night to prep for…New Years Eve! And if the word ‘prep’ just gave you mild heartburn after all the Christmas feast planning, you have nothing to worry about! These Cheesy Italian Crostini are 10- minute, make-ahead, little melty cheesy slices of YUM.

My mom has been making these since she was my age and they are family favorite! To the point that I had to beg her to let me post her secret recipe on the blog. Thank you mom! Well, almost secret recipe.. I had to do a little making over to get these to look just as pretty on the plate as they do on our hips :)

These are divine! The perfect savory appetizer. Ooey gooey melty parmesan and mozzarella cheese with a hint of oregano and garlic, finished with a few slices of green onion and crumbled bacon. Gooey. Salty. Creamy. Crunchy. SO. so. so… so good!

You are too cute in your Christmas photos! I’m going out for NYE but am hosting a wine and cheese party in January and this recipe is definitely going on the menu. Looks scrumptious!

  8. Love the photos. It all looks so amazing. Have a great new year!

  9. We have 8 people in our entire extended family (one of which was gone for most of the week) and I still made 3 different cookies, plus peanut brittle, plus date bread. ON TOP of all of the food my aunt had already bought and the pie my mom was making for Christmas dessert.

We have an eating problem. It’s a wonder we don’t all weigh 900 pounds.

Merry (late) Christmas, happy new year! xoxo

hahahaha! OK you just made me feel SO much better. Luckily someone invented the treadmill or else we’d have a serious problem by now.. :) Happy New Year darling!! We need to set up that foodie date asap!

  10. These look so tasty and easy!

  11. I love that these are easy; I’m always looking for simple, yet delicious, recipes for NYE. I’d much rather mingle and sip on a cocktail instead of slaving over a hot stove with a whisk in my hand. That buffet table full of desserts has me drooling.

    • Whipped Baking says:

totally agree! Especially by New Years, Christmas takes everything out of me :) P.S. I’m still in love with that roll recipe you’ve got going on for your post this week.. YUM!

  12. YUM! I love anything carby and cheesy! These look heavenly. I love all your crostini recipes!

  13. How did you manage to make so many cookies in a day?! After like 2 batches, I`m so tired from all the dish washing. LOL. Glad to know you had a wonderful holiday!

These crostinis look like a wonderful appetizer. You sold me with the 10 minutes. Haha~

    • Whipped Baking says:

Haha! Totally with you girl – you just need to recruit some dishwashers… over the holidays I’m armed w/my dad and brothers, and if they want to eat… they need to clean :)
